Thank you for taking the time to read about the Bruce James Orchestra- one of the hottest semi-professional big bands in the Vancouver BC area! Our 19 piece ensemble has a long history of providing exceptional big band/jazz/dance band music in the Tri-Cities/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley; we have been performing all over the Lower Mainland since 1999. We perform a variety of big band music and are adaptable to all types of audiences/performance situations. We are a band that exudes high energy in our performance, incorporates rehearsed choreography in our selections, and is an ensemble which prides itself on excellence in both music, and showmanship.

Pianist /Composer , Nikki Iles had the life changing experience as a member of the innovative Creative Jazz Orchestra – working with Mike Gibbs, Vince Mendoza and Anthony Braxton .She has had a busy freelance career working with Art Farmer, Rufus Reid, Claire Martin and Julian Arguelles and also recording with Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Stan Sulzmann and Dave Holland. With over 30 CDs recorded over 3 decades, she has been described as the “Heroine of British Jazz”. Fresh from working as Composer in Residence with the NDR big band, the HR in Frankfurt and the UMO Jazz Orchestra , she formed her all star British Band to help her bringi into the spotlight a body of work that has been maturing for decades. This music marks a new chapter in a long and distinguished career in British Jazz . De Nieuwe Veste Bigband is een collectief van enthousiaste musici, vol kwaliteit en met veel passie voor bigbandmuziek. De band speelt een gevarieerd repertoire van instrumentale en vocale stukken in een volledige bigband bezetting aangevuld met zang. Met composities en arrangementen van onder andere Peter Herbolzheimer, Count Basie, Sammy Nestico, Rob Pronk, Rob Horsting en Jerry van Rooijen geeft de band blijk van respect voor de bigband traditie, Tegelijkertijd worden composities van The Beatles, Gerard Presencer, Doe-Maar of Jason Mraz niet geschuwd wanneer de gelegenheid daarom vraagt. De band wordt geprezen om haar samenspel, dynamiek, creatieve solisten en fantastische zanger. De bigband treedt op tijdens (jazz) festivals, speelt op diverse podia van cultuurcentra tot (jazz) cafés en verzorgt optredens in samenwerking met het Bredase centrum voor de kunsten, Nieuwe Veste. In 1998 opgericht als ensemble van de Nieuwe Veste, staat de band inmiddels geheel op eigen benen en is uitgegroeid tot een volwassen bigband. In 2004 en 2011 verschenen de CD’s ‘Veste Styles’ en ‘Vestify’ die allebei met enthousiasme werden ontvangen door muziekliefhebbers en recensenten. Beide CD’s bevatten het gevarieerde en altijd swingende repertoire van vocale en instrumentale stukken die de bigband zo kenmerken. In 2017 ontving ze de 1e prijs op festivals op de Gentse Feesten en in Brielle.

Die Nostalgie Swingers Bigband ist ein Unterhaltungsorchester auf gehobenem Niveau. Wir spielen Swing und verschiedene ältere und moderne Pop und Rock Nummern. Wir sind spezialisiert auf Tanzmusik in allen Facetten. Wir machen vielseitige Musik aus verschiedenen Zeitepochen zu allen Standard-, Latin- und Swingtänzen und treten an grossen Tanzbällen auf. Im Frühling organisieren wir auch einen eigenen Ball. Natürlich geben wir auf Konzerte In- und Outdoor. Wir sind 19 Musiker, eine Sängerin und ein Sänger.

The Lancer Band is a big band of the Australian Army and has been serving continuously since 1891. The band is made up of members of the Australian Army who are soldiers and musicians. The Lancer Band works primarily as a big band for rehearsals and recordings, performing music from throughout the 20th and 21st century. They also perform as a smaller jazz ensemble, a rock/party band, and a marching band for Army ceremonial taskings. The band originally started as a horse-mounted brass band as part of its regiment, the Royal New South Wales Lancers, a Light Horse or cavalry regiment. Band members have deployed on international and domestic operational service duties, both as a band and in individual soldier capacities. The Lancer Band now has a significant social media profile where it continues its mission to promote the image of the regiment and the Australian Army through music and community engagement.
